About this site design
The Empire Hotel web site has been designed by Stuff and Nonsense.
Creative Director Andy Clarke writes, "We are pleased to have been asked to design and develop the Empire Hotel web site for the third time. We have had the great pleasure of serving The Empire Hotel since 1998."
Design
The web site takes elements that provide a customer with a familiar Empire Hotel face and yet also work for customers who have not been to the web site before.
The site is displayed as intended across all such modern web browsers including Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape 7, Opera 7 and Safari. The site also displays correctly in older browsers with patchy support for CSS. These include Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and 5.5.
Web standards
The web site content is accessible to screen readers, text browsers and other assistive technologies with the addition of separate style sheets for PDAs and mobile devices possible in the future without needing to change the content, structure or programming. Content is also fully accessible to older browsers including Netscape 4 although these legacy browsers will not see the design.
Accessibility
Stuff and Nonsense are unique in North Wales in designing and developing standards based, accessible web sites. The Empire Hotel web site meets accessibility guidelines and exceeds those set by the RNIB. Before publication, the web site was opened to critique by some of the world's foremost accessibility experts.
